Over the past few years, the airports have had to re-align their runways to line up with North as the poles have been slightly shifting. Yet instead of realizing that something is going on, we simply brush it off as No Big Deal.
What you look upon as Natural Disasters, I see as Mother Earth trying to alleviate some of her pain. I suppose that's one of the differences in your viewpoint from my own.
As to the empathic side... it sucks, yeah. Watching while the idiotic masses continue to bicker amongst themselves over the most juvenile of issues, well... it makes it hard to keep Hope in the chance to ever evolve as a race.
